She wore the black and white dress...that looked like it had rocks on it

Jason and I made our way down to London for the dinner and a board meeting.  The trip down was flawless - classic foreshadowing here.

We checked into our incredibly swank hotel.  It's a new hotel in London, and it was a total scene in the lobby, like crazy loud with pumping beats and people.

Nicest hotel I have ever stayed in, in London
We headed out into the night and ate at my favorite restaurant, Basaba Eathai.  We waited in line to get to our communal table that was filled with women - lucky Jason, and then we proceeded to order enough food for 3 people, which really confused our waitstaff.  The tables are designed for you to not take up more than your own space, particularly when they are busy.  It was delicious.

Afterward, we went and got gelato; I had ginger cinnamon, and it was spectacular.  Back at the hotel, we went onto the balcony and watched the people below - laugh, drink, and be raucous.

We are in the photo, can you see us?
The next morning we met downstairs for breakfast.  The restaurant was huge like the lobby and all the walls were packed with art.  Right behind my head, was a picture of a fish head on a plate and this sort of put Jason off, but I liked it, but my favorite was a white horse that someone had tinted royal blue.

Jason went out to buy some trousers because he had forgotten his and I went off and got my hair blown dry and nails done at the same time.  This was an interesting experience as they both tried to have a conversation with me at the same time.    The nail lady doesn't move which means you have to hold your one arm across your body at and angle.  On further inspection, I realized that this made my manicure a bit angled on that hand, easily fixed with a file.

When I woke up that morning, I noticed a light and realized I had a window behind the TV.  I peaked to see what my view looked like and it was this...

Weird huh?
We met up at the board meeting, which was fairly standard and then back to the hotel to get dressed for the evening.  We both looked quite nice.  We did lots of small talk at the drinks reception and then had a nice dinner.  I was a good girl and did several rounds around the room after dinner, getting hugs and air kisses, putting up with 'oh my god look at you in that dress.'  I ended the evening on a high when I was saying goodbye to a guy that was looking me in the eye and when he was giving me my second air kiss goodbye, he didn't say 'that dress that dress' and instead he said, you smell amazing. So many frogs, so few princes...

The next day was travel day.  Jason and I were leaving from separate airports, but met up again in Edinburgh.  The weather had been very bad the day before and we had to evacuate the site due to the wind.  The wind had died down so I was hopeful, but as we waited, I had that familiar feeling and after three delays - and 2 hours - the flight was cancelled.

The bedraggled group wandered down to customer service where the airline had put no thought into what they were going to do with us, but after an hour and a half, a bus arrived and we started the long climb into the Highlands.

The driver was good, and we made good time.  There was snow all along the way.  Jason and I played scrabble winning a game each until my ipad ran out of battery.  Just after 11, we pulled into Wick.  I took 3 American ladies with me who had missed their flight and had no way to Thurso - they were taking a quick 3 day trip to Thurso, but it's too long a story to completely explain.

For the record, my shoes were fabulous.

  2. That is truely a swank Hotel. What does Basaba Eathai do best ...is it Thai? Well Jason COULD have taken a picture of the beautiful lady in the lace dress with the red heels and fabulous smile. he's on my list for bad boys.
I knew Scotland was having similar weather to ours in Idaho...looks like home to me. Thanks for the good time without having to discard my sweats and my feet are happy in their berkenstocks with two pairs of socks.
